on the other side of the internet

So I’ve been having some personal problems recently, and I haven’t been at liberty to divulge these problems to many people due to their sensitive nature and the fact that the issue deals with my roommate, who can kill me in my sleep and trash my stuff if she really sees fit.  So I haven’t been blogging.  Please excuse my absence.  She has access to my blog sites and I really don’t want her seeing anything I might feel the need to blog about right now, so I’m moving to WordPress.  At least temporarily.  We’ll see how long I stay.

So a swift update, for those of you who are keeping tabs:

Classes are going pretty well so far, but the amount of reading is FLIPPIN’ ENORMOUS.  Goodness!  I’m a little overwhelmed right now.  I have a physiology test next Friday, which will leave me with only one more.  The end of that treacherous tunnel is nearly in sight!  I am so relieved.  I’m trying to stay on top of everything at this point, but I’m having a bit of a hard time.  I’m having troubles readjusting to university life.  I think it’s because my support group is out of town.

So far as shows for this semester go, I am ASM for Midsummer and dramaturg for the two chamber operas, Old Maid and the Thief and A Hand of Bridge.  I have read one of these plays.  In my defense, I only found out about Hand of Bridge on Monday, and shit has kind of hit the fan since then.  I may be auditioning for Dispatches from Hell next week, but I haven’t decided yet.  I’m also thinking about restarting No Shame Theatre, an evening get-together specifically for the students where they can perform anything they want to without the fear of being criticized by their peers or teachers.  It was really active right before I got down here, and I think it’s a really wonderful institution.  I’m looking forward to it.  In addition, I’m on the play selection committee (let the battles with the idiot voice teacher commence!) and some how got roped into joining the Africana Theatre Lab.  I…kind of walked in on the meeting.  And now I’m in it.  How do these things happen?  One Day Play Day is in a couple of weeks, which I’ll be stage managing for.  That ought to be fun.

I’m planning on moving into a single room very, very soon.  My roommate and I are having a rather lengthy dispute on the condition of one of my best friend’s characters at present, and I can’t really handle any of her nagging, cruel comments.  I’ve been thinking about moving out for quite some time (we’re not very compatible roommates), and this was kind of the straw that broke my camel’s back.  Or am I the camel?  Regardless, there was a camel and he (or she) is now grievously injured due to her straw.  So.  Moving out.  An awesome plan.  There’s more to it than that, of course, but I’m getting kind of tired of explaining to everyone what’s going on, even if they are asking me to make sure they’re fair judges of the situation and such.  Whatever.  It’s dumb and I’m leaving.  So there.

So that’s life right now.  Terrifically exciting, I know.  I hope you all continue to read and don’t begrudge me for leaving the throes of blogspot.

Sorry bout your roomie, but that is life. Hope you get out from under soon. At least life is interesting. And you’re not living at home, eh? Still, no fun. And it is certainly you who are the camel who’s back has been pressured to the extent that it snapped. Now, move out and put your camel’s back back together. At least no harm was done to your camel’s toe (yes, I know that is beneath me and certainly out of place, etcetera and soforth, but it was just sitting there …)
